Posted in Tapestry 5 by sqllyw on 11/14/2008

A few steps to create a tapestry 5 project, just a note for my reference, you can refer to this link: Tapestry 5 tutorial for complete reference

cd to a directory

mvn archetype:generate -DarchetypeCatalog=http://tapestry.formos.com/maven-repository

Some dialogs as follows:

1: http://tapestry.formos.com/maven-repository -> quickstart (Tapestry 5.1.0.5 Quickstart Project)
Choose a number: : 1
Define value for property ‘groupId’: : learning
Define value for property ‘artifactId’: : tutorial1
Define value for property ‘version’: 1.0-SNAPSHOT:
Define value for property ‘package’: learning: learnit
Confirm properties configuration:
groupId: learning
artifactId: tutorial1
version: 1.0-SNAPSHOT
package: learnit
Y: Y

You will see a directory named tutoiral1 created, under java directory, you see learnit, that comes from ‘package’, usually this is the same as groupId unless you want it to be different.

cd tutorial1
mvn jetty:run

use your browser to open ‘localhost:8080’ you should see the program running.

if you want to build from IDEA, you can follow the instructions given in this link
