Apache Http Server notes

Some notes about Apache HTTP Server, assumes Ubuntu 8.0.10 or later.


Location of root directory
/var/www
anything you put in the directory can be accessed from http://192.168.1.1/myfile
sudo pico hello.html

<html>
	<body>
		<p>Hello World</p>
	</body>
</html>

then access it:http://192.168.1.1/hello.html
Start and stop Apache
Ubuntu 8.0.10 installs apache binaries in the /usr/sbin
to start: sudo /usr/sbin/apache2ctl start
to stop: sudo /usr/sbin/apache2ctl stop

Configuration
It is located in /etc/apache2
